The Department of the Interior on Thursday announced proposed auction details for offshore wind development off the coast of central and northern California, in the Morro Bay wind energy area and Humboldt wind energy area. The proposal includes up to five lease areas, spanning more than 370,000 acres, which could potentially offer more than 4.5 GW of offshore wind energy. 

The proposed sale notice is the final step before an auction date is set, according to the Business Network for Offshore Wind.
