How One School District Saved Money by Going Green with Federal Dollars

The Modesto City School district is going green with federal incentives, and saving money in the process. As first reported in the Modesto Bee, the district took several actions to save energy and costs.

The district adopted solar-panel shading at its parking lots that could offset at least 60 percent of the districtโ€™s current electricity costs, and added dozens of electric buses to its fleet. To achieve these goals, which were recently recognized by the White House, the district took advantage of grants and federal tax credit programs focused on clean energy.

Modesto City School district joins many schools around the country switching to clean energy to save money and cities and towns funding new projects with federal dollars. The Inflation Reduction Act includes tax credits that can fund school facilities upgrades and reduce school district energy bills.ย
