Conducted by Talker Research for Chinet, the study found parents emphasize turning off lights (59%) and conserving water (55%). They also encourage sharing old toys and clothes (46%).
Parents walk the talk, with 27% ending friendships over differing eco-views. Sharing eco-friendly habits is key in adult relationships.
72% of parents feel a huge responsibility to boost sustainability for future generations. Being green is easier with older kids (35%).
Yet, sustainability isnโt always easy. One in six struggles with it, and many prioritize convenience over eco-friendliness while shopping.
Parents admit regularly buying wasteful items like frozen food (58%) and single-serve drinks (45%). However, theyโre willing to spend more for sustainable options, including 53% more for greener clothes.
Parents are hopeful that teaching sustainability will pay off. Nearly half believe the next generation will be more eco-conscious.
