Tool helps public officials navigate new clean energy tax incentives

The Clean Energy Tax Navigator, a new tool developed by Lawyers for Good Government, demystifies the elective pay tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Elective pay (also known as direct pay) offers an unprecedented opportunity to improve health, decrease energy costs, create jobs, and build wealth in low-income communities and communities of color. States and municipalities can help prepare communities to take advantage of direct pay, make bridge financing available for projects, and create incentives for siting projects in low-income communities.

The navigator allows users to select a potential, planned, or completed project type – such as a EV fleet, EV charging, solar or wind project – and enter data about and receive assistance on associated elective pay tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act.
