Think about it: Fuel prices are so volatile that Santee Cooper’s professionals and analysts underestimated them by an astonishing $130 million. Current astronomical and unpredictable fuel prices demonstrate just how susceptible we are here in South Carolina to global events outside of our control, and the prices underscore how diligently and urgently we need to find more secure and economical ways to generate electricity.
