TL/DR –
Hold onto your blowouts, because Jersey’s blowing up the clean energy game! Atlantic Shores (a Shell & EDF Renewables collaboration) is courting the Garden State with a whopping 2.8 GW offshore wind project — enough to light up 1M+ homes. While we’re celebrating this renewable glow up, let’s also keep an eye on the corporate giants steering the ship. It’s ‘The Real Housewives’ meets ‘Captain Planet’, and the drama is electric!
Atlantic Shores’ Power Move for a Brighter Future
Atlantic Shores, the dynamic duo of Shell and EDF Renewables, is making boss moves. They’ve just pitched an offer to New Jersey’s fourth offshore wind recruitment drive, vowing to deliver a whopping 2.8 GW of electricity. Now that’s what we call a power play!
If all goes to plan, they’ll be the pioneers of offshore wind for New Jersey, who’s on a mission to set up 11 GW of offshore wind by 2040. Talk about setting goals and crushing them!
Their two-part project, appropriately dubbed Atlantic Shores 1 and 2, is set to make enough electricity to light up over a million homes. The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is already on board, giving the green light for the construction of up to 195 wind turbines. The project’s developers are confident about securing all necessary approvals by year’s end.
“New Jersey is ripe and ready for offshore wind renewable power, and so are we,” says Joris Veldhoven, the CEO of Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind. He’s all about growing and enhancing strategic partnerships and driving economic development initiatives across the Garden State.
