Business Leaders Warn: Renewables Under Political Threat in Texas

Developers and consumer advocates, along with major businesses and data centers investing in the state, have expressed concern about efforts in Texas to slow the growth of renewable energy. Ultimately, the legislature rejected anti-energy bills that would have harmed the stateโ€™s nation-leading clean energy resources, raising bills and reducing reliability in the process.

A December study from the Public Utility Commission of Texas conclusively found that renewable energy does not increase costs. Another recent analysis by Aurora Energy Research, commissioned by the Texas Association of Business, concluded that proposed restrictions on renewables could raise Texansโ€™ power bills by 10%, underscoring the importance of including renewables as part of Texasโ€™ energy portfolio.
