Farmers Left Behind: How Federal Funding Cuts Are Undermining Rural America

Farmers need federal programs committed to them in order to thrive, as highlighted in a recent Washington Post article. The Trump administration’s sweeping cuts to federal funding, including research grants, food aid purchases and manufacturing projects, are harming programs that would otherwise benefit farmers, local communities, and their states.

Sen. John Boozman (R-Arkansas), the chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, said in a statement that the USDA should honor its contracts with farmers. “I’m committed to continue advocating for farmers, ranchers and rural communities to ensure they have the tools and resources they need to succeed,” Boozman said.
